In the middle block of panels, one of the most original treatments to word choice and character development has been played out. Over the course of a few panels the reader visually digests what went through Frederik's mind in that moment, a range of emotions from pity to a desire to flee. This illustrates the principles of emotional expression and word choice, discussed on pages #29 and #30 in making comics. By word choice and visuals, the reader is able to experience for themselves what Frederik is feeling.
